    Deer Candy Persimmons are grafted American female persimmons and will bear fruit in 2-3 years depending on the care and climate they receive. Medium sized persimmon, 1.25-1.5" long. Fruit has nutty flavor and ripens early. Very productive, drops fruit between late August through October depending on variety and climate. With a slow growth rate, all persimmons are easy to grow. Cold hardy, Zones 5-9.

    Fertilization:It is not recommended fertilize trees at time of planting or young trees. Excessive fertilizing may cause premature fruit drop. Apply a balanced fertilizer (such as a 10-10-10) in late winter or early spring after the tree is established.

    Pruning: Most persimmon trees require little pruning, especially once they’re bearing fruits. Pruning is usually restricted to controlling the tree’s size or removing dead, diseased, and damaged branches. Prune any suckers that develop.
